Welcome to Journey to Connections Counselling (JTC). JTC offers a range of services: online inquiry, web-based bookings, online resources, intake assessment, counselling and referrals. These services may be provided in an individual, family or group format through in person, phone or virtual contact. As an allied health clinic operating in British Columbia, we are required to follow provincial and federal privacy laws: PIPEDA and PIPA BC Personal Information Protection Act.
JTC complies with these regulations in a few important ways that we would like you to be aware of:
We have policies and procedures for privacy and compliance in place to protect you.
Before we start counselling we review a formal consent policy.
We collect information carefully and purposefully.
There are some limitations to privacy such as:
* required by a treaty
* required by a subpoena
* to assist an investigation of an offence under Canadian or provincial law
* to respond to an emergency that threatens the health, safety or life of an individual or the public
* when required to contact next of kin for a deceased or ill individual
* when reasonable for archival purposes of an archival institution
You have rights to access and limit the information that you share.
JTC protects and stores personal information with care. We use physical, administrative and technical safeguards to protect the personal information that we collect. It is considered reasonable that client records in an allied health care practice remain highly secure.
